About Embroidery
An embroidered design is a special kind of graphic. It is made of thread instead of ink, so it has a different texture and sheen. It is not the same as printing. What looks good on a business card may not work for embroidery. Small lettering, excessive detail or very small shapes do not lend themselves to reproduction in thread. They are difficult to work with and will not look good on the finished product. Lettering that is at least a quarter inch high will sew out best.
You may use as many colors as needed for your design but most designs use up to 6 colors.
Our machines hold up to 15 different thread colors. When selecting colors be advised that colors on a color sample card may look significantly lighter when they’re sewn out, because of the sheen of the thread.
Digitizing
Embroidery digitizing is the process of converting any artwork, images, text, any sort of design, into an embroidery design which the embroidery machine can understand and execute the embroidery on the garment. Digital embroideries need artisans called Digitizers who are able to turn any design, into a set of specific commands, which are later converted into specific machine readable formats, to be executed, i.e. embroidered by the machine on a specific garment. Since creating a new design is time consuming, digitizing fees may apply and are based on time rather than the number of stitches in the design. A small but detailed logo may take more time than a jacket back design that uses simple filled shapes and lettering. We quote individually on digitizing charges.
